The Nun, a spinoff to the horrifying Conjuring franchise, has officially revealed the first trailer, and it has definitely lived up to the hype set by the other films in the series.
Check out the trailer below!
The spinoff, which is the second spin-off to come from the series, is set to star American Horror Story star Taissa Farmiga, who just so happens to be the younger sister of Vera Farmiga a.k.a. Lorraine Warren in the Conjuring series.
The film is also set to star Demian Bichir, Jonas Bloquet, Charlotte Hope, Ingrid Bisu, and Bonnie Aarons.
With a star-studded cast, the film also has an impressive list of people working on it behind-the-scenes. The Nun is directed by Corin Hardy (The Hallow) with the script penned by Gary Dauberman (It.)
The film is set to be a prequel to the other four films in the franchise (which includes the Conjuring and Annabelle films.)
The film’s official synopsis reads:
“When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate.”
It continues on to say:
“Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in ‘the Conjuring 2,’ as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.”
The Nun will have you “praying for forgiveness” when it hits theaters on Sept. 7!
