The Dose drop grunge-fueled, desert adventure “Thrill Of It”—watch

Los Angeles-based alt act the Dose may only consist of vocalist/guitarist Indio Downey and drummer/bassist Ralph Alexander, but the duo certainly fill the room with their own unique blend of grunge expertly showcased on new track “Thrill Of It.”

The video finds Downey and Alexander wandering into an abandoned house in the middle of the Mojave Desert before setting up shop to deliver an emotion-fueled performance that’s giving us major ’90s vibes. The throwback is further supported via an old-school TV set prop, use of a polaroid camera and overall vintage aesthetic of the editing.

The clip is the second piece of a three-part story that began with “Vervain,” which was released last month, and will end with the forthcoming “Saline.”

“After the events of ‘Vervain,’ we’re lost in the desert in search of escape and fulfillment,” Alexander reveals. “We connect through performing and escape in an abandoned truck to the finale, ‘Saline.’”

The track’s lyrics explore the concept that you can’t always be in control, but you have to keep pushing despite that.

“It’s about going with the flow and accepting that you can’t change the past or control the future—kind of a ‘we must keep going, up the ladder and past the last rung’ [type of thing],” Downey explains.

The Dose are finishing up a debut full-length produced by Keith Nelson (Buckcherry) and mixed by Joe Barresi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool). “Thrill Of It” will be available via Spotify and iTunes beginning July 27.
