The Get Up Kids part ways with keyboardist James Dewees
The Get Up Kids are getting ready to hit the road this week, but they’ll be doing so without one of their members.
Longtime keyboardist James Dewees is no longer with the group according to the band’s Twitter account.

The band posted early today that Dewees would not be a member anymore without any reasoning offered at the moment.
“James Dewees is no longer a member of The Get Up Kids,” the post simply reads.

Dewees first started with the Get Up Kids during the recording of the Red Letter Day EP and joined the band full time with his first full album being 1999’s Something To Write Home About. The record prominently featured Dewees’ keyboard playing.
He was with the band ever since then, up through this year’s Problems.
He is also the frontman and main member of Reggie and the Full Effect as well as being the drummer of the now-defunct Coalesce. Dewees also performed as the touring keyboardist for My Chemical Romance before they went on hiatus and toured as a member of Gerard Way’s solo band afterwards.
The band are set to kick off their tour on September 12 before making a stop at Chicago Riot Fest the following day. They’re also set to perform at Every Time I Die’s annual ’Tid The Season show in December.
Dewees is yet to comment on his departure from the band.
