Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many Netflix productions have been stopped and release dates have been pushed back. Up until now, no information surrounding the highly-anticipated arrival of The Haunting Of Bly Manor has been released.

This week, director Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep) took to social media to give an update on the second season of The Haunting Of Hill House anthology.

After a fan reached out to Flanagan on Twitter about the show's status, the director revealed how far into production they were before COVID-19 shut everything down.

Flanagan further shared that the show is still planning to premiere sometime this year as originally planned.

"The show is shaping up wonderfully," he says. "I'm thrilled with it. At the moment no reason to think it'll be pushed. Netflix will announce the release date when they're ready."

The Haunting Of Bly ManorAmerican Horror Story

The Haunting Of Bly Manor is inspired by the psychological horror novella The Turn Of The The Screw by Henry James. The story takes place in an old country mansion where a governess, the story's narrator, looks after two young orphans. In Bly Manor, the character of the governess will be played by Victoria Pedretti who also starred in The Haunting Of Hill House.

Along with You star Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Invisible Man), Henry Thomas (E.T.), Kate Siegel, Amelia Eve and Catherine Parker are the other Hill House alums cast in the new season. Joining them will be T'Nia Miller, Rahul Kohli (Supergirl), Amelie Bea Smith (EastEnders) and more.

Over recent weeks, many updates about where certain Netflix shows stand following the COVID-19 pandemic have been released. Last week, it was revealed that season 2 of The Umbrella Academy (based on the comic by My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way) won't face any release delays.

However, things are not looking as optimistic for the highly-anticipated fourth season of Stranger Things. David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, shared that the season is likely to be pushed back to 2021.
