The internet has a lot of thoughts on McDonald’s new McPlant burger
Well, McDonald’s is finally hopping on the plant-based train. This week, the fast-food chain announced that it is launching new non-meat menu items.
However, the internet isn’t entirely convinced by what McDonald’s has decided to name its new plant-based burger.

McDonald’s has really been pushing to reach wider audiences this year. The fast-food chain saw a growth in sales this summer when they teamed up with Travis Scott for his signature Cactus Jack meal. The collaboration was so popular that McDonald’s began running out of food items in some locations.
Now, it looks like McDonald’s is trying to appeal to all of the vegetarians out there. This week, the company announced in a blog post that it is launching a new line of entirely plant-based items.
To start, McDonald’s is launching a new vegetarian burger called the McPlant burger. The name follows along with the company’s other menu items such as the McFlurry, McNuggets, McMuffin and so on.

The fast-food chain first began testing a plant-based patty in Canada last year. According to CBS News, after seeing “an encouraging response,” McDonald’s plans to test the new burger in select U.S. cities before the official roll out next year.
The McPlant burger will eventually be joined by other plant-based items including chicken and breakfast sandwiches. Despite the strive to reach a wider audience, however, the internet has a lot of thoughts on the plant-based burger’s name.
Lol really phoning it in for the vegetarians.
