The Muppets band is finally getting its own Disney+ show

Disney+ has greenlit a new show called The Muppets Mayhem. The show will feature Animal and the whole iconic muppets band, Electric Mayhem Band, as they record their first album.

Lilly Singh (A Little Late With Lilly SinghDollface) will play the human lead role of Nora, a junior A&R executive-managing the Electric Mayhem Band.

Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes developed the series based on characters Jim Henson created. Multiple people close with the project spoke about the new show in a statement.

The Muppets are renowned for quality, creativity and unrivaled, fun storytelling for the whole family,” Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis says. “We are thrilled to have Adam, Bill and Jeff at the helm to bring all of these iconic and great new characters to life in fresh and dynamic ways.”

The show follows Nora and the band as they face the current music scene and try to go platinum.

“Their take is fresh, fun, musical and, of course, hilarious,” ABC President Jonnie Davis adds. “We couldn’t be happier to be the studio that is helping them get the band back together.”

The Electric Mayhem band first appeared 45 years ago in The Muppet Show The fictional band consists of Dr. Teeth (vocals, keyboard), Animal (drums), Floyd Pepper (vocals, bass), Janice (vocals, lead guitar), Zoot (saxophone) and Lips (trumpet).

“We are so excited to bring the story of the Electric Mayhem Band to the front and center of this new series,” Disney Live Entertainment Executive Producer and V.P. David Lightbody says. “It’s wonderful that these characters are finally getting to play lead rather than supporting roles.”
