Watch the Offspring cover a song Joe Exotic pretended to write

The Offspring are saying they’re going a bit stir crazy while isolating as many of us are as well and it’s leading to a fantastic and all too relevant cover of a song not written by the Tiger KingJoe Exotic.

The band are offering up a cover of “Here Kitty Kitty” which was proven to be written by the Clinton Johnson band and not Joe Exotic as he alleged in the Netflix series.

The band wrote up a post explaining their reasoning for making the cover as well as giving credit to the rightful song writers.

“We are going a little stir crazy these days & wanted to do something fun to put a smile on our faces & hopefully on some of yours too. Here Kitty Kitty was originally by the Clinton Johnson band & *not* by anyone in that recent doc we all got caught up in.”

As previously reported, the music videos and background songs Joe Exotic was claiming were his own turned out not to be.

It turns out, the writers are Vince Johnson and vocalist Danny Clinton who make up The Clinton Johnson Band. Sadly, Danny Clinton recently passed away. Both of their names appear in the credits of the show, but Joe Exotic wouldn’t acknowledge they weren’t his songs.

“I had no idea he was going to Milli Vanilli the songs,” Johnson wrote Vanity Fair in an email. “It was a couple of months and two or three songs in when I was on YouTube one night and just happened to look up Joe Exotic. And there he was, lip-syncing and acting like the ghost of Elvis. I called him up, I was hot…And he bamboozled me about his reality show—that it was coming soon and he would make everything right as rain. I just wanted the proper credit.”
