The Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie stun at MSG

Head to the AP Shop to grab the Postal Service’s Give Up on vinyl.

Late last year, the Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie stirred excitement (and possibly tears) when they announced a special co-headlining tour. The Postal Service — the indie supergroup comprising Ben Gibbard, producer Jimmy Tamborello, and Jenny Lewis — were celebrating the 20th anniversary of their sole album, Give Up, whereas Gibbard’s other group, Death Cab For Cutie, were reaching a similar milestone. Their groundbreaking fourth album, Transatlanticism, was also turning 20.

Naturally, they put together a tour where they performed those albums in full, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience for indieheads. During the first night of their two back-to-back performances at Madison Square Garden, the bands gave one of the best shows of the year — and proved why those records are now considered classics.
