How well do you remember “Love Like Woe” by the Ready Set?

The Ready Set, aka singer Jordan Witzigreuter, released his hit single “Love Like Woe” 10 years ago today

The I’m Alive, I’m Dreaming track’s zombie-themed music video premiered on Myspace the following day and caught lots of attention for the song’s catchy chorus, as well as Pete Wentz’s creepy cameo. TRS even shared a special international music video for “Love Like Woe” featuring a giant box of candy and cute farm animals with hearts on their butts.

More on the Ready Set and “Love Like Woe”

Following the release of I’m Alive, I’m Dreaming in 2010, the Ready Set dropped two EPs: 2011’s Feel Good Now and 2013’s I’ll Be Waiting. In the summer of 2013, Witzigreuter started writing for what would become his Razor & Rie debut, 2014’s The Bad & The Better.

Prior to its release, the musician described the next album as more honest revealing to AltPress it houses the material he had wanted to put out but the success of “Love Like Woe” took him on a different path.

“I feel like it’s a little bit more on the honest end of things,” Witzigreuter begins. “It’s the songs I’ve wanted to write for the past couple years. I didn’t really get the opportunity to after all the radio stuff happened, which is really awesome. It’s cool, but it felt like for a while, I was trying to chase writing a certain type of song, and I think the past year taught me not to do that, and it feels refreshing. Every time I listen to it, it feels more like a definitive Ready Set album than anything I’ve done in the past. I feel like it’s entirely me and everything I want to be.”

Following the release of that record, Witzigreuter teamed up with Cameron Walker (Twin XL) and Jess Bowen (the Summer Set) as Nekokat. The trio released three EPs: 2015’s Communication and Communication II and most recent Pleasure Beach in 2018.

However, Witzigreuter didn’t totally ditch The Ready Set, releasing one album via Hopeless Records in 2016, I Will Be Nothing Without Your Love. The LP marked the first he produced by himself.

“That’s what I want to focus more on anyway, being able to have my distinct, super-unique kind of thing,” he told APTV at the time. “It sounds a lot more cohesive, I think, than stuff I’ve done in the past.”

Since then, the Ready Set self-released two EPs in 2018: V1 and V2. Witzigreuter has also shifted gears, releasing music under a new solo project Onlychild, which includes 2019’s Solstice EP. The vocalist has also expanded into co-writing, joining Breathe Carolina on “In The Dark” off the duo’s DEADTHEALBUM.
