The World Over hit close to home in “Rewind/Replay”—listen
Music is an outlet for all emotions, joy, anxiety, numbness and more. Like many, Los Angeles-based alt-rock act the World Over use the power of sound to cope with tragedy and all the emotions that come with it.
The band are partnering with AP to premiere their latest track “Rewind/Replay.”

With eccentric rock rhythms reminiscent of Ice Nine Kills and New Years Day, the World Over are set to give new perspectives to the rock scene with the song’s touching personal story.
Frontwoman Tiaday Ball has rock ’n’ roll in her DNA. As the granddaughter of musician and entrepreneur Ernie Ball, she has proven to be a powerhouse for female-led alternative music.
She paints the tragic picture of her father’s death in her band’s new song.
“I wrote the lyrics to this song shortly after my father passed away in 2015 as an outlet for the roller coaster of emotions I was experiencing from losing him so abruptly,” Ball says.
“Him and I had a very close relationship—I could tell him anything; he was my shoulder to cry on any time I needed him, and we got along so well. So as you can imagine, as hard as it is to lose a family member suddenly, this one really took a toll on me and forced me to grow up very fast.”
Loss is a universal feeling, but being blindsided by the death of a loved one is even more challenging. In fact, the band held off on the song’s release for a few years.
“We held on to this song for a long time because we felt that it didn’t quite fit in with our EP, MOUNTAINS, and deserved its own acknowledgement,” Ball says.
Beyond the lyrics, the video also has a special personal touch. The video’s protagonist takes her time to examine old photographs in a family album. Ball hopes the video is relatable, explaining how it’s meant to convey a certain message.
“In the video, it’s as if you are looking through a scrapbook of old photos together with a family member, or someone you know to convey the emotions of bittersweet memories for the loss of a loved one,” she says.
