If ska music is due for a fourth wave, then the Interrupters could be the band to jump-start it. Produced by Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, it’s clear that The Interrupters takes a few notes from ska-punk’s founding fathers. Frontwoman Aimee Interrupter (aka Aimee Allen) brings her raw and gritty vocals to the fast, upstroke guitar styles of Kevin Bivona (also of Transplants), and together deliver furiously charged punk rock that shamelessly borrows Two-Tone aesthetics. Armstrong lends guest vocals to “Family,” a danceable sing-along that will surely have a home in the band’s live set. Calling out government entities one-by-one, “Can’t Be Trusted” is a loud and angry cry for civil liberties that will have the pit skanking. It’s never been so fun to be so pissed off.
