'The People's Choice Awards 2013' will air January 9, 2013

For those looking to get their pop culture fix, the wait is over. Well… almost. CBS announced today that the People's Choice Awards 2013 will air live January 9 from the Nokia Theater L.A. at 9:00 p.m. ET, with a delayed airing on the west coast. The award show, which covers film, music and television, is the only major award ceremony where fans choose the nominees and the winners.

Although the event is still a few months away, today fans can begin weighing in on which of the 15 new award categories they would like to see make it to primetime. Some of the potential categories are FAVORITE COMIC BOOK ADAPTATION (movies), FAVORITE YOUNG TV STAR (television) and FAVORITE FESTIVAL HEADLINER (music). Fans can vote for their favorite categories here: http://www.peopleschoice.com/pca/categories. The categories with the most votes will be announced October 23.

The award show, which is in its 39th year, will once again be executive-produced by Mark Burnett, the man behind Survivor and The Voice.
