There are four parts to the transformation.

First, the entire Wizarding World will be covered in festive decor, getting you in a spirited mood.

Then, at Hogwarts castle, there will be a “stunning nighttime experience using the latest in map-projection technology,” as Senior Director of Entertainment Michael Aiello says in the video below. Scenes from the movies will be projected on the structure when the sun sets.

In Diagon Alley, there will be decorations and holiday-themed food from the books.

Lastly, live entertainment will spill over from Diagon Alley into Hogsmeade.

IGN notes that this is the first holiday takeover for a Wizarding park in the U.S. Last year, in Japan, Halloween elements were incorporated into the popular attractions.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter first debuted at Universal Studios Orlando Resort in 2010. A Wizarding World opened in Japan's Universal Studios on July 15, 2014 and in Hollywood on April 7, 2016.
