These new ‘You’ characters are stirring up some trouble for season 3

It’s been nearly a year since You season 2 hit Netflix and left fans with a massive cliffhanger. While we wait to see what is in store for Joe Goldberg and Love Quinn next, it looks like the duo is getting some new company for season 3.

Netflix has confirmed that Travis Van Winkle and Shalita Grant are joining the cast of the hit series and are going to be stirring up some trouble.

You season 3 was initially slated to arrive sometime this year. However, like so many other films and shows, the series has been severely delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Finally, last week, Victoria Pedretti confirmed that production for season 3 is set to begin sometime soon.

“We’re tiptoeing towards working now,” she told Collider. “I know that we have some meetings coming up and whatnot, but things are starting to come together for production to start.”

Now, it looks like plans are finally underway for the new season. Netflix has confirmed that two new cast members are joining You for the highly-anticipated new episodes.

Shalita Grant is playing Sherry, a “mom-fluencer” who invites Love into her inner social circle. Although she appears down to earth, it is soon revealed that Sherry is really only pretending to befriend Love.

Meanwhile, Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg is also getting a frenemy in the new season. Travis Van Winkle is playing Cary, a wealthy man who also befriends the murderous stalker and invites him into his inner circle.

“Fresh blood joining You Season 3,” a since-deleted tweet from @netflixqueue reads. “Shalita Grant will play Sherry, a ‘Mom-fluencer’ who appears down to earth but is actually a mean girl who only pretends to welcome Love into her social circle. Travis VanWinkle will play the wealthy Cary, who invites Joe into his inner circle.”

Deadline later confirmed the news exclusively, which Grant reacted to on her own socials. “Over the moon about this!! So. Much. Fun ahead,” she tweets.

At the end of season 2, we learn that Love Quinn may actually be the perfect match for Joe Goldberg when her true colors are revealed. Following the shocking twist, fans of the series are anxiously waiting to find out what happens next to Joe and Love. Pedretti shared last week that she hopes Love’s hysteria is further explored in the new season.

“Yeah, the hysteria,” she shared. “I mean, it was always happening. She was always kind of off her rocker consistently, even before the large reveal at the end of the season. But yeah, I just love when her and Joe are just going at it, you know? With all the hypocrisy. It’s kind of hysterical. I really want to venture more into that.”

A premiere date for You season 3 is still unknown. However, seeing as production is set to resume soon, hopefully new episodes will hit Netflix sometime in 2021 as the series teased earlier this year with a new look at Goldberg.
