This map shows America’s music preferences by genre

Earlier this year, a map was released showing each state's least favorite artists. Now, online real estate company Movoto have created an interactive map, showing America’s music preferences by genre. The map is based on data collected from the National Endowment Of The Arts, the Bureau Of Labor And Statistics and the U.S. Bureau Of Economic Analysis.

Some interesting things can be learned from the map: Punk and metal are both most popular on the West Coast; rock and EDM are extremely popular in California and New York; Indie and Folk are huge in the West; and punk also has a big following in the Southern states like Tennessee and Alabama (take that, country). Also, Seattle still loves Alternative.
