twenty one pilots fans uncover new theory for next album color scheme

twenty one pilots‘ fandom is at it again with theories, only this time it’s about the color for the duo’s next album.

Last year, Reddit users began to speculate what color TØP’s next album might be despite knowing nothing about the upcoming release. Some assume it’s going to be orange while others believe it will be green.

“I’m gonna guess orange,” said user DemocraticLeftist. “It seems with confusing lyrics like ‘in time I will leave the city, for now I will stay alive’ that Tyler can’t choose between staying in the depressing red world, or leaving it and killing the depressing version of himself to go to the yellow happiness, and finally be positive. After all, the “bishops”, aka thoughts, commonly pull him back to the red. Why not find the perfect combination of depression and happiness? A balance of sorts? In between red and yellow, is orange.”

Now, user WeAreNeverAlone cited a previous AP article regarding the band’s influences on fashion stating “Now I’m seriously doubting the next album being green…”

“There’s a distinct reason the band wear red armbands,” says frontman Tyler Joseph states in a Reddit AMA in 2015. “The more and more I got to know the character Blurryface, the more I realized that the color blue was not a part of who he was. And because of that, red represents him on this record.”

Blurryface is a character in the TØP universe and named after the band’s hit album. When the record was released, the duo transition from the blue and red logo of the Vessels era to the red black and white of Blurryface.

Because Blurryface’s main color was red, some think the next choice should be blue.

A couple of fans think that the next color scheme depends on how many records the band plans on releasing.

In a speech Josh Dun hinted that Trench would also mean the end DEMA, an organization in the band’s world. Joseph later confirmed this in an interview with NME.

“There’s definitely an end-game” the singer says. “There’s a story. I think I was very specific that there’s a reason why the record ends with [the song] ‘Leave The City’ and the song itself is a kind of cliff-hanger. I mean, the whole thing was it’s setting up for what’s next and it’d be silly to not at least resolve what we’ve already started.”

Other’s, like user adumdadum are sticking with orange for the next LP and really can’t see how green would be the next color in the cycle.

Tbh it makes no sense for the colour ways to be green haha, there has been so much showing that its gonna be orange. Bf was a red colour way, then trench is a yellow colour way. Them mixed together is orange.

Tyler and josh were at a telephone box that they took pictures in with it and it was orange, but someone went to the exact place and it was red… they photoshoped it and Tyler was wearing a orange beanie. Leading up to trench there was many hints like josh dying his hair yellow and Tyler wearing yellow hats in interviews and the colour yellow as a light on Josh. The hints are starting again.

More on twenty one pilot album theories

Last year, twenty one pilots updated their Twitter and Facebook accounts with a new logo, and although the change is small, it didn’t go unnoticed.

The new logo is sharp, unlike it’s predecessor which looks worn.

Fans were quick to come up with theories (something the Clique is known for) for what the change means, some hoping it means new music is on the way.

Reddit u/king-of-the-clouds also pointed out that while both logos are yellow, the shades differ ever so slightly. It’s been previously confirmed that the Trench era characters, the bishops, can’t see yellow.

Back in July 2018, the day before their official return, the Clique started formulating a “Heathens”-inspired theory suggesting Trench would be yellow. It was based upon the DEMA website having a torch GIF uploaded under the name “_they_ca_ntseeFCE300.” The FCE300 in the file name is the hex color code for yellow, which translates overall to “They can’t see yellow.”

This is where it gets even more interesting as u/king-of-the-clouds used a hex code scanner on the “old” Trench logo and the new one. The original logo is in the shade #F3EF00 while the most recent adaptation is actually #FCE300, the same shade called out on dmaorg.info.

The user goes on to explain the Clique has said the new logo is more complete as the Banditos get “stronger,” so the color change to one “they can’t see” makes complete sense.
