twenty one pilots reflect on memorable first gig being stopped by cops

As twenty one pilots are starting off their most recent leg of the Bandito Tour today, they aren’t forgetting their humbling touring beginnings.

At BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Josh Dun opened up about their first show and how it got a little crazy.

“We got one song it and it got shut down by the police,” Dun told BBC. “Before the police came, I remember thinking how exhausted I was after one song. Over time, you learn to budget energy within a set.”

He said the show took place in “somebody’s backyard” on a college campus.

Tyler Joseph also talked a bit about how they’ve evolved as a band.

“We figured out who we were in front of no one,” Joseph said. “Every day we get on stage, we learn a little more.”

“We put in those hours and those years on stage learning how to talk to a crowd, how to relate to a crowd and how to put on a show,” he continued.

The band also talked about what’s after Trench, and it sounds like we won’t find out for a little while.

“We’re not quite at the end of ‘Trench’ yet,” they said. “We’ve got more gigs through the rest of this year and through some of 2020 as well.”

Other twenty one pilots news

As previously stated, the duo are kicking off another leg of the Bandito tour. However, it wasn’t without a slight problem.

They  had to change their schedule for the Bandito Tour due to the NBA playoffs.

The band said that since the Toronto Raptors made it to the finals, they will need to play in the arena the band was set to have a show at.

“congrats @Raptors on making the finals. this means we have to cancel night number two of our toronto shows for the @NBA to have arena access. @TicketmasterCA will be reaching out to night two ticket holders while we try to find more seats for night one.”
