twenty one pilots added another major achievement with ‘Trench’
Another week and another major achievement for twenty one pilots. Their 2018 album Trench is now certified platinum in the US by the RIAA. Certified platinum means a record has achieved one million sales.
Trench was certified Gold just two months after its October 2018 release.
A few weeks ago, twenty one pilots' first music since Trench, "Level Of Concern" toppled the giant that was Panic! At The Disco who held No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top Rock Songs Chart for a miraculous 76 weeks.
Just after that, their 2015 record Blurryface had every song achieve over 100 million streams on Spotify. But it didn't stop there. Next, twenty one pilots "Level Of Concern" hit No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs Chart. It was the fastest to hit that spot in two years. The last to do it was their own song "Jumpsuit" from Trench.
The near-hour long record was brought into the world on the backs of four singles in 2018. "Jumpsuit," "Nico And The Niners," "Levitate" and "My Blood." The record sent twenty one pilots on the absolutely massive Bandito Tour and clearly, continues to sell very well over a year and a half after its initial release.
Trench is now twenty one pilots' third Platinum record, with Blurryface and Vessel both achieving the feat in 2019.
Trench being certified Platinum is just another notch in the belt for one of the most successful groups of all time.
More twenty one pilots
While it won’t be possible to see twenty one pilots play their new song “Level Of Concern” at a concert for a while, the band are still giving the track its live debut.
This week, they’ll be appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to play the new track live for the first time.
The band revealed the last week on their Instagram account.
They dropped the track back at the beginning of April marking the first bit of new music since their album Trench.
The song saw the band donating a portion of proceeds to Live Nation‘s Crew Nation initiative launched at the beginning of April. Tyler Joseph mentioned he wanted the song to be a part of benefiting others.
“I also want a portion of whatever money this song makes to go to this charity I saw called Crew Nation,” he says. “It provides funding for people who work in the live music industry who don’t have a job right now."
“No one knows when live music will get back on its feet,” he continues. “I’ve met so many amazing people working venues and touring with bands. Hopefully, we can do something to help some through this song.”
Now, the band are set to play the song live for the world for the first time ever.
They’re appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s late night show on May 22 as the musical guest.
The show is currently airing at 11:35 ET/10:35 CT. Currently, the talk show is airing with Fallon filming content remotely.
