12 ‘Twilight’ soundtrack songs you definitely rocked out to

Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga made people all over the world fall in love with sparkly vampires and muscular, hairy werewolves. We can’t deny we were all wrapped up in the love story that became one of the biggest cultural film phenomenons.

The first Twilight movie is turning 10 years old today, Nov. 21. To celebrate, we’re giving you a definitive list of the best scene acts who appear across the five Twilight movie soundtracks. Without a doubt, the music made these movies even more memorable.

1. Paramore  – “Decode”

“Decode” is Paramore’s well-known hit from the original movie, which appeared in the film’s credits. The song hit music charts internationally and was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media category in 2010.

2. Muse – “Supermassive Black Hole”

“Supermassive Black Hole” is one of Muse’s greatest hits, which was hand-selected to be played during the iconic Cullen baseball game scene from Twilight.  The song hit No. 4 on the U.K. single charts. The film’s soundtracks featured Muse two more times. “I Belong To You” was featured on New Moon’, while “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)” appeared on Eclipse. Fun fact: Stephenie Meyer dedicated her fourth novel Breaking Dawn to the band saying, “And thanks also to my favourite band, the very aptly named Muse, for providing a saga’s worth of inspiration.”

3. Linkin Park – “Leave Out All The Rest”

Linkin Park composed the beautifully sad song “Leave Out All The Rest” for Minutes To Midnight, but it was also featured on the first Twilight soundtrack. Chester Bennington’s vocals end the film in a memorable way, appearing as the second song in the end credits.

4. Mutemath – “Spotlight” (Twilight Mix)

Mutemath’s “Spotlight” appeared on the Twilight soundtrack one year before it was released on their 2009 Spotlight EP and album Armistice. You can hear The song as Bella and Edward exit the car for school in the first film.

5. Death Cab For Cutie – “Meet Me On The Equinox”

“Meet Me On The Equinox” is the first song and lead single on the New Moon soundtrack released in 2009. Death Cab For Cutie’s hit appeared in the film’s end credits. The band specifically wrote this track for the film and premiered it at the MTV Music Video Awards.

6. The Killers – “A White Demon Love Song”

The Killers came out of their cage to support New Moon with their song “A White Demon Love Song.” The track is exclusively available on the 2009 movie soundtrack and can be heard in the film’s end credits.

7. The Black Keys – “Chop And Change”

The Black Keys brought their garage-rock sound to the world of vampires with their song “Chop And Change.” It is Eclipse’s exclusive song that can be heard when Riley Biers exits a bar and enters into the night rain.

8. Florence + The Machine – “Heavy In Your Arms”

Florence + The Machine graced 2010’s Eclipse soundtrack with their soulful single “Heavy In Your Arms.” The song appears on the band’s re-release of their 2009 album Lungs. You can catch this tune in the movie’s end credits.

9. Green Day – “The Forgotten”

Green Day’s bittersweet song “The Forgotten” is featured on 2012’s Breaking Dawn – Part 2 movie soundtrack. It also appears on the band’s ablum ¡Tré!. Catch this tear-inducing song in the end credits for the final movie in the saga.

10. Christina Perri – “A Thousand Years, Pt. 2”

Perhaps the most famous song in the Twilight series is Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years,” which appeared on both part one and two of Breaking Dawn’s soundtracks. This iconic song phased out the whole saga by following Bella and Edward around a meadow, which flowed into the end credits where we all definitely cried.

11. OK Go – “Shooting The Moon”

OK Go contributed to the Twilight franchise in New Moon. Their song “Shooting The Moon” appeared in the 2009 movie’s soundtrack. They later placed the track on 2010’s Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky (Extra Nice Edition). You can hear OK Go playing in the franchise’s second film during Bella and Edward’s garage hangout.

12. Ellie Goulding and Sonny Moore – “Bittersweet”

Ellie Goulding has been featured on some incredible movie soundtracks such as Fifty Shades Of Grey and Bridget Jones’s Baby. Perhaps her coolest exclusive soundtrack song was from Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Goulding collaborated with From First To Last’s Sonny Moore (aka Skrillex) on the electronic-infused end credit track “Bittersweet.”
