#175 - The Distillers

The Distillers Good Charlotte Foo Fighters Mindless Self Indulgence Anti

#175 – March 2010

THE DISTILLERS

If no one’s even going to attempt to change the world, the Distillers’ Brody Armstrong might as well step up to the plate and give it a try. Tom Lanham braves a horde of suburban pinkies to get personal, political and pervasive with punk’s next torchbearers.

FOO FIGHTERS

A.P. sent photographer Chapman Baehler to get in the faces, dressing rooms and lavatories of the Foo Fighters as they traipsed across America bringing joy, merriment and the Rock to audiences. But fear not, dear reader, for there’s not a stacked actor to be found. MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE Misunderstood by many, ripped-off by Missy and smarmier than Ministry, these fearless kings and queens of electro-snark-punk know that it takes a nation of geeks to plan the attack. HOT WATER MUSIC Gainesville, Florida’s finest were ready to close their guitar cases for good, but the combined power of friendship and great music set their asses straight. Jonah Bayer learns how HWM have lasted nearly a decade to throw Caution to the scene.

DISCLOTHESURE SPECIAL: GOOD CHARLOTTE GOT IT MADE

This month, A.P. visits the inner workings of Made, the clothing line overseen by Benji and Joel Madden. We also let GC’s Billy take us to the next level; Level 27, that is.

SPECIAL! THE 2002 A.P. READERS POLL

We gave A.P. readers the keys to the hype machine for an issue, and the collective roar was good (Charlotte) for punk fans, bad for Christina and Avril, and dead in the water for anything within 30 miles of Fred Durst. Remember: If you didn’t vote, you can’t complain.
