Underoath return with urgent comeback single, “On My Teeth”

In the past few years, fans of metalcore masters Underoath have had a lot to rejoice over. 2016 was an amazing year for the band, reconvening for their Rebirth tour, with stops at Self-Help Festival and that year’s APMAs when frontman Spencer Chamberlain and drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie joined Beartooth for a version of “It’s Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door.”

But big questions still loomed. Would the reunion be permanent? Would there be new music? And if there was, would it be as life-affirming as we remember them being?

Fortunately for all of us who remember Underoath’s power and glory, the wait is over: Erase Me, the band’s new album, is slated for release on Fearless Records on April 6. It's currently available for preorder here.

Over the past couple of days, fans were treated to some mysterious clues, which culminated in the debut of “On My Teeth,” the first taste of new Underoath music since 2013.

Sparing no pretense toward gently reintroducing their entrance, “On My Teeth” begins with Chris Dudley’s percolating electronic vistas before Gillespie revs the rhythmic engine to launch Chamberlain into the faces of listeners craving to fucking feel something again.

“Let’s get this straight,” the singer roars, “I’m fine without you/I’m not your fucking prey/so save yourself/and no one else.” The cumulative force feels like Underoath pushed us through a plate glass window from the 99th floor of a skyscraper and we’re racing the glass shards to the bottom.

But don’t take our word for it, check out the new music along with the album artwork and details below. Be forewarned: This is not your older siblings’ Underoath. And the world is so much louder because of it.
