Varials’ ex-vocalist accuses band of racist comments after BLM shirt launch

Varials are being accused of allegedly using racial slurs by their former singer Travis Tabron after releasing a t-shirt benefiting The Bail Project and Campaign Zero.

Tabron, who left the band at the beginning of the year citing his need to maintain his mental health, is saying the band has previously used the n-word in response to their shirt supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

The band posted a shirt for sale on June 5 with proceeds going towards organizations helping in the Black Lives Matter movement.

This sparked Tabron’s response calling the band out for allegedly using racial slurs.

Someone questioned why Tabron waited until now to say something about Varials’ alleged use of the slur and he responded with a series of posts outlining his reasoning.

He wrote that it was “because as a black person it is extremely disgusting to see people pretend to care by making a charity shirt when they used to literally bust out in tears laughing saying the hard R in the van???? also bc of people like you that would say it’s somehow my fault????”

He continues, saying it bothered him seeing the shirt go online given their alleged remarks. Further, he says the band allegedly tried to undercut him for the rights to the band. He closes off by saying this is the last thing he’s saying on the matter.

The band has not responded to the allegations at the time of writing.
