VestiVille disaster draws major Fyre Festival comparisons

It seems like there’s a new festival horror story surfacing on the internet almost every day, with comparisons often being made to the infamous Fyre Festival. Now, a music festival that was supposed to be held in Belgium is turning heads in disbelief after attendees arrived only to be made aware that it had been canceled.

And that’s not the worst of it.

The festival, called VestiVille, was slated to take place June 28-30 in Lommel, Belgium. Acts such as Cardi B, Future, A$AP Rocky and more were listed to perform.


According to Twitter, fans waited nearly two hours to get into the event only to realize that it had been canceled.

The festival offered camping to attendees but apparently sold no food or water on site.

Sets were slated to kick off at 4:00 p.m. yesterday, but according to the festival’s social media pages, the mayor of Lommel decided they could not start the festival due to safety concerns.

“Today at 5:00 PM the mayor of Lommel decided to not let Vestiville start. After consultation with the security services and ASAP Rocky’s security officer, it was decided that the safety of the artist and the public could not be guaranteed.”

A$AP Rocky took to Twitter to release a statement in regards to the cancellation.

VestiVille stated they had “given everything” to make the event happen. While the campsite remained open, they announced an “organized festival exit” would take place.


However, judging by the photos and videos posted by attendees, it looks like things didn’t quite go according to plan.

Obviously, fans were left demanding refunds with some claiming thousands of dollars the festival had cost them.

Yesterday, organizers revealed they would be consulting with their partners in regards to refunds.


The events drew a lot of comparisons to Fyre Festival, with a lot of people pointing out Ja Rule’s presence on the lineup.

The rapper was also a co-organizer of the ill-fated Fyre Festival.

While VestiVille clearly turned into a VestiFail, we have to admit the Fyre Festival 2.0 comparisons are a bit off.
