Andy Biersack and John Feldmann answer fan questions at Musicians Institute

In the fourth part of our Musicians Institute Conversation Series, Andy Biersack and John Feldmann answer audience questions—from music changing lives to lyrical content.

A fan asks Biersack how he responds to fans who connect with his music, after sharing her personal story. “The fact that the music that we have made has resonated so deeply with so many of you… I know that it was genuine from me, and the connection that we have, that means a lot more because my words and how I felt about something meant something to you,” says Biersack. “Remember not to pander… Maintain being true to yourself.”

Later, a student asks Biersack how he writes different lyrics between Black Veil Brides and his Andy Black record. “The Andy Black record is much more personal,” he says. “Most of what I do with Black Veil, it's meant to be a bit more ethereal, it's meant to be more about a general concept.”

When asked about how he switches between vastly different musicians in his producing career, Feldmann noted a few facts. “Sonically, it's interesting how a lot of times, the poppier the band, the darker the humor, the heavier the drugs,” says Feldmann. “That's not to say that 5 Seconds of Summer is on drugs.”
