Set It Off talk stint as a Fall Out Boy cover band

Set It Off recently released an early album of the year contender in Midnight and are poised to paint the world blue, but they just can’t seem to get out of the shadow of the 1996 crime flick Set It Off.

In this APTV exclusive, the Set It Off guys talk about their early Fall Out Boy tribute band, their secret obsession with a genre you may not expect and decide between pop legends NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys. Get ready to laugh hysterically as we put Set It Off On The Spot.

Midnight‘s release had fans clamoring to hear the band’s latest jams, illustrated perfectly by the album pushing past 1 million streams in 48 hours.

Midnight dug deep into the roots of SIO, bringing back that aggression that OG fans will remember from earlier releases. The album doesn’t feed you any sugarcoated lyrics, instead opting to get real and talk about the hard stuff that we all go through.

“We’re really excited about it because this whole process of the new music [has] been a lot about going back to our roots and digging deep into what we’ve been going through over these past couple years,” Frontman Cody Carson tells AP. “We’ve brought a lot of aggression back because we have a lot to talk about. I feel like it’s so easy, in general, when you’re [asked], ‘How have you been?’ to say ‘Oh, everything’s perfect, everything’s great.’ I feel like nobody talks about the real side of things and what we go through in any sort of course of your life whether it be music, your job, relationships—anything at all—to just speak openly, and to say openly, to write openly.”

The album shows the tremendous growth and positive changes that SIO have endured since the release of Upside Down. Their ability to be relatable, open, and honest has really built a connection with their fans that is unparalleled to most bands.
