Violent New Breed (ex-Escape The Fate) unleash themselves in "Crazy" video

On the heels of their debut full-length album, Bad Reputation, out Oct. 25, Violent New Breed, featuring former Escape The Fate bassist Max Green, are teaming up with AltPress to release their newest single, “Crazy.”

After parting ways with Escape The Fate and a short stint with Falling In Reverse in 2014, Green began Violent New Breed the following year. Shortly after its launch, he gave a preview of the new project with several demos including “Only The Strong Survive,” “Casket Dream” and “Devil’s Deal.”

In 2016, Violent New Breed set out on their first tour as well as issuing their debut self-titled EP with Green on bass and vocals. After a period of time off, the group announced this May that they would be returning with an entirely new lineup—vocalist/guitarist Sean Russell, guitarist Shawn McGhee and drummer Charlie Nicholson. The band marked their comeback by recruiting former Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones for “Bury Me,” their first single off Bad Reputation.

Days ahead of their premiere album release and the first collection of work with their new lineup, the band are now sharing “Crazy.” The track opens with muted riffs before blasting into high-energy instrumentation with gritty vocals.

“’Crazy’ is one of my favorite songs on the album,” Green shares. “It has a great energy to it, and lyrically, I feel like it’s something everyone can relate to in some aspect. [It] was the second video we shot, and it came together really organically. We rented this rad warehouse that had a bunch of salvage and constructed everything there on the spot. It helped give the video the vibe we were looking for and was a lot of fun. I’ve definitely got to give a shout out to our director Orie McGinnis. That guy is super talented and has a great eye.”

“’Crazy’ is such a fun song with a great hook,” McGhee says. “We had the instrumental for a while before we started working on the lyrics and melody. Max and Sean walked in one day with some stuff written down, and I remember going through some lyrics. The line, ‘I’m going crazy, I’m out of my mind’ stuck out to me. For me, everything about this song is awesome. The energy and way it hits you right out [of] the gate. This track will hold your attention all the way until the end. We threw down some cardboard in the studio and did some locking and popping.”
