Watch the latest trailer for 'The Wolverine'

The latest trailer for The Wolverine shows a new chapter in the famous character's life: the 1945 atomic explosion during which he shields a Japanese soldier from the blast. That soldier is Shingen Yashida, who becomes the head of a massive corporate empire. Yashida never forgets what Wolverine did for him, and years later, he offers to make Wolverine mortal. “Your ability to heal can be passed to another,” he says in the trailer. “Allow someone else to shoulder your burden.”

The Wolverine opens in theaters July 26.
