Watch this police officer spontaneously jam with a local garage metal band

When the cops show up to your metal band’s rehearsal session, nine times out of ten they’re coming to shut down your fun. But that wasn’t the case for Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Miguel Garcia Jr., who ended up dishing out the riffs instead of any tickets.

After finishing up an investigation nearby in Compton, California, Deputy Garcia Jr. and his partner overheard the loud music and decided to see what it was all about. As the law enforcement approached the fence where the band, Misled Youth, were practicing outside, the members first thought they were going to be busted.

“We were jamming and he showed up and we were like ‘oh, we are in trouble,'” commented one of the band members. Next thing you know, Deputy Garcia Jr. informed the band that he too used to play the guitar growing up, and decided to share a quality moment with the youth.

In the clip that was filmed by Ronny Cordoba, the band’s guitarist, and shared by the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department on Facebook, Deputy Garcia Jr. can be heard playing the intro to the Offspring’s “The Kids Aren’t Alright.” The video of Deputy Garcia Jr. showing off his skills below has since gone viral, and been shared over 87 thousand times.

“I didn’t become a police officer go out and start arresting everyone, I became a police officer because I have an overwhelming love for people,” Garcia Jr. told the local CBS affiliate. “I was goofing off and I told my partner ‘wow, they sound really good. I’m not sure exactly what happened, but at some point they put the guitar in my direction and I said let’s see what you got,” Garcia Jr. said.
