Waterparks just dropped an emotional video for their heartbreaking new song “HIGH DEFINITION”.

The video is simple and shows Awsten Knight singing in a dark room while wearing a glow-in-the-dark sweater and sporting green paint in the shape of stars over his eyes.

The song seems to be about wanting to love someone but resisting because you know it’s bad for you.

Knight shared that the song “hurts a lot but I love it” on his alternate Instagram account. You can see a screenshot of that post below.

The band shared the video and said it is “ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ON THE ALBUM”.

Knight also tweeted that the song is “PROBABLY (his) FAVORITE THING (he's) WRITTEN".

You can see the new video for “HIGH DEFINITION” and the lyrics to the new track below.

I’d love to be in love with you enough to write a love song
I need to feel needed and I need it more than I let on.
I’ll be home just thinking about it
Maybe call like I used to.
But I’ll just stay alone because alone is safer than with you.
I like you inconveniently
You’re squeezing out my dopamine.
Yeah, you like me in spite of me.
I feel these feelings quietly.
You’re cool
But inconvenient

Now my energy’s depleted.
Take a seat, babe
If you need it
Like I do 'cause I’m defeated.
Now I’m cancelled
I’m whatever.
I’m the best thing that you’ll never have.
Now I’m lonely
Yeah, if only
I could text you
But I’m holding out.
I know I’m not around enough to make me worth the wait.
It’s like

Who wants to be close with someone who always goes away?
And even when they’re here it’s like,
“Where’s your fucking head at?
Why’s it take so long to text back?
You’re so bad at loving people back.”
So here’s a plaque
For your wall
For the Hall of Fame of fucking off
When things get weird
Because I can’t handle that again.
It’s like that
Yeah, it’s like that.

“HIGH DEFINITION” is the fifth single from the band’s upcoming album FANDOM. They’ve dropped “[Reboot],” “Dream Boy” “What What Happens Next” and “Turbulent”. You can see the music videos and listen to all of those songs below.
