Waterparks reveal “Turbulent” release date, single art sparks theories

Last night, Waterparks broke the news they had signed to a new label. However, in true Parx fashion, they didn’t reveal which label they had inked a deal with.

Now, the band dropped another cryptic teaser sharing that new music is on the way even sooner than we think.

At around 3 p.m. EST, the band account uploaded a photo of a disheveled, green backpack. With it, they wrote, “TURBULENT. 20 HOURS.”

20 hours from the time of posting would be 11 a.m. EST and given the fact there’s a presave link, it looks like that’s when we can expect the new track.

Parx fans will recall “Turbulent” being teased by frontman Awsten Knight on a few different occasions, initially in an Instagram live in April.

While the song on Knight’s Instagram Live was not technically confirmed as a part of the band’s forthcoming album, the frontman said a few words in the video that has lead fans to believe it’s official.

Near the end of the stream, Knight says, “This is going to be so hard live.” Additionally, he saves the final bits of the song for a later date, saying “I want to save the next part. I don’t want you to hear it yet.”

As if Knight’s dialogue in the video wasn’t enough to send fans’ heads spinning, he also made a comical tweet about his recent Instagram Live. Furthermore, the frontman retweeted many fans’ tweets regarding the song.

“NOW THAT I RETWEETED THE HYPE YOU HAVE TO BE CURIOUS AND LISTEN, WELCOME TO MARKETING 101 I AM UR UGLY TEACHER MR FREEGAN PLEASE TELL ME U BROUGHT A PENCIL,” the tweet reads.

More recently, fans speculated that the new song would be unveiled during the band’s performance at Slam Dunk Festival this weekend.

Waterparks dropped a tweet that looked more like one of those math equations that fans deciphered as a hint to the new track.

“17 [R] 5 / S7PM F 2+” the tweet reads, followed by the tangerine emoji and the link to Slam Dunk Music Festival.

The band also included a very short video that fans immediately recognized as the alleged song “Turbulent.”

20 hours obviously jumps the gun on their Slam Dunk set, but there’s a real possibility it will be debuted live this weekend.
