We Came As Romans dropped a music video for "From the First Note." The song is one of two that the band released after the tragic passing of singer Kyle Pavone in Aug. 2018. The other is "Carry the Weight."

We Came As Romans are also hitting the road this Spring for a 10-year anniversary tour of their debut album To Plant A Seed.

We Came As Romans guitarist Joshua Moore spoke about the creative process of the song and the meaning behind it.

"'FTFN' is a song that celebrates the time that we got to spend with Kyle and acknowledges how truly remarkable of a brother and bandmate he was," Moore says. "Lyrically, I was able to reference To Plant a Seed and Tracing Back Roots -which were both written about the start of the band and how we lived together. I was able to take Kyle's recorded vocal from TPAS and fit it into the bridge of the song, so we can always hear him when we listen and play it."

"We wrote 'From The First Note' as a promise to Kyle to not only preserve the amazing moments and memories we had together, but to continue carrying on the legacy of everything we built together,"  Bassist Andy Glass explains.

"The video portrays the band playing in a dream-like state, surrounded by beautiful colors and flowers. Our albums throughout the years have had themes of roots, branches, and overall growth. So we felt it was only right to create something that not only captured that essence but persevered it as well."

"From the First Note" Lyrics

Take me back, I wanna remember
I wanna go back to the days, undiscovered.
Our hearts held inside our hands,
And the world in front of us.

Because I wanna remember,
The way that we lived and who we were
I wanna remember who we are.

I won't forget the memories, I know.
You'll always be a part of me, and
Every way you changed me still shines through
You're the light that I follow home.
Every way you changed me still shines through,
I can't replace you.

I wanna go back, just to say, just to tell you
That your home is in my heart
And you'll always live in us

I won't forget the memories, I know.
You'll always be a part of me, and
Every way you changed me still shines through
You're the light that I follow home.
Every way you changed me still shines through,
I can't replace you.

All the words you sang, we sing them back for you...
From the first note.
In every step we take, we carry on for you.

And all the words you sang,
We sing them back for you
From the first note.
The first note that was ever sang.

We Came As Romans are also embarking on a ten-year anniversary tour for To Plant A Seed starting in March. Speaking of the album, Moore discusses how grateful they are, but that they will be retiring the songs from future touring.

"Way back in 2009 when we recorded it, we had no idea where it would take us or what we were really even doing, and it's awesome to see that we can play these songs still, and feel that connection with you[...]"

"With that being said, we are going to be throwing these songs into the vault of old WCAR — and retiring them from all future setlists after this tour. So make sure you grab your tickets and come hear these songs one last time live."
