Since the release of "Level Of Concern" back in May, twenty one pilots fans have been anxiously waiting for their next album. Over the past few months, both Joseph and Josh Dun have shared a few secrets about their upcoming release.

During a May interview with Zane Lowe, Joseph revealed that he is writing twenty one pilots’ next album. Due to the sudden clear up of their schedules amid the pandemic, Joseph anticipated that their next album will arrive sooner than expected.

“I’m writing a record right now,” he said. “I’m not sure when it’ll be released, but it’s definitely going to be sooner than we were planning on releasing a record. I don’t know if it’s this in-between record or if it’s a continuation of the narrative and where we left off."

Then, in July, Joseph exclusively told Alternative Press that there were a lot of details about twenty one pilots' new album he was still unsure about.

“I’m not really sure which direction we’re gonna go yet,” Joseph said. There are two very different records, in my opinion, to be written. One being right now and the other one being after that. I don’t know which one I’m going to do first. I have an idea of what I think is next, sonically. It’s just whether or not it’s too big of a risk, I guess.”

Since this album is a big undertaking following the success of 2018's Trench, both Joseph and Dun plan to take even bigger risks with their new music.

“We have more to risk at every step,” Joseph said. “So it’s still got some weight to it. Each time we make a decision to risk something, we’ve got more to lose. But screw it. That’s what Josh and I always say."

Nearly five months have gone by since Joseph offered that update and it looks like he is still working on the album. On Friday, he shared a brief video on his Instagram story saying that twenty one pilots' new music isn't finished quite yet.

"I'm working on the album," he says.

He then says that the brief video is a result of the noise his wife Jenna makes in the kitchen.

Along with the very brief album update, Joseph is also gearing up for an upcoming Fortnite stream. On Dec. 8, Chiptole is hosting a virtual Fortnite tournament that is open to all who wish to play.

Joseph will be taking part in a 3 hour "Christmas party" Fortnite stream on twenty one pilots' Twitch account. As well, he will be partnering with a soon-to-be-announced charity to raise money through the stream.
