Would you go see a Sinister Six Spider-Man spin-off?

When Sony finally appeased superhero fans earlier this year by allowing Spider-Man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, director Drew Goddard's Sinister Six film—which was expected to release in November of 2016 with Dr. Octopus, Vulture, Electro, The Lizard, Kraven The Hunter and Mysterio as its Six—seemed to be an unfortunate casualty of the move. However, Goddard believes that the film could still function within Marvel's framework with their upcoming line of Spider-Man films. With Goddard executive producing Netflix's excellent Daredevil series, the Cabin In The Woods director clearly has a good standing with Marvel which will hopefully lead to this project coming to life within their universe.

“My vision of that movie was a summer annual,” Goddard recently explained to io9. “So you didn’t have to worry about continuity. It was just, ‘We take Peter, put him on an adventure, we put him back in his life.’ I intentionally wanted a movie that didn’t have to worry about mythology and continuity. It was important to me to make a movie that could stand on its own. So the good news is, you know, [laughs], it slots in very well to any plan anybody ever wants. We just need to let a couple years go by, I think.” Goddard later added, “The tricky part about all this is I love this plan. I love that you get to see Spider-Man in Marvel movies. I think that’s a great thing. I’m on board with that decision because as a fan that’s what I want. So who knows what the future holds? This is Hollywood, man, you’ve gotta play the long game.”

Marvel's Spider-Man will debut in Captain America: Civil War when it hits theaters on May 6, 2016. Marvel's first new Spider-Man film, which is currently untitled, is slated for a July 28, 2017 release. If Goddard's Sinister Six is still a possibility, it'll be a least a few years before we see it fully realized.
