"Writing songs means everything"— Chad Gilbert talks songwriting in new Ernie Ball video

In a new video released by Ernie Ball, New Found Glory guitarist and songwriter Chad Gilbert talks about the songwriting process and how to reach audiences. “Don't focus on all the other things people think you need, like a gimmick, an image or any of that stuff,” he says. “That stuff is disposable. What's not disposable are songs.”

Gilbert says that it's best for singers to write about what they feel, and to ignore ideas of what they think others will like.

“Dive into yourself; music is supposed to be a reflection of your emotions, lyrics are your feelings on paper at that time and place,” he says.
