WWE Paige’s Dwayne Johnson-produced biopic gets first trailer

WWE’s Paige made waves in the world of wrestling after becoming the first NXT Women’s Champion. She went on to become a two-time WWE Divas Champion but has since retired due to an injury, which she announced earlier this year.

Paige, whose real name is Saraya Jade Bevis, still appears on-screen as the general manager of WWE’s SmackDown Live. The road to her impressive career will now be hitting the big screen in a biopic titled Fighting With My Family, and we finally have a look at the first trailer.

We first caught wind of the film in Feb. 2017 when it was revealed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would be executive producing and cameoing as himself.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is inspired by the Channel 4 British documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting With My Family.

The trailer’s description describes the film as:

“Based on a true story, Fighting With My Family follows reformed gangster Ricky, wife Julia, daughter Paige and son Zak as they make a living wrestling together in tiny venues. When Paige and Zak get the opportunity to try out for WWE, the family grabs a once-in-a-lifetime chance to turn their wildest dreams into a dazzling future. However, brother and sister quickly discover that to become superstars, both their talent and their relationship will be put to the test. Fighting With My Family is a heartwarming and smart comedy that proves everything is worth fighting for when it comes to family.”

A teaser for the film dropped in April after appearing on NXT TakeOver and WrestleMania on the WWE Network. The same clip appears in the new trailer, showing part of the aforementioned audition process, which appears to not go exactly as planned.

In addition to The Rock’s cameo, Florence Pugh and Jack Lowden portray Paige and Zak. Nick Frost (Shaun Of The Dead) and Lena Headley (Game Of Thrones) play their father and mother respectively.

The Rock announced the trailer on his Twitter.

“In 2012, I watched a documentary about a young, unknown British female pro wrestler and her wonderfully crazy family. I loved it! It was a story that my @SevenBucksProd had to tell. That girl @RealPaigeWWE would go on to help redefine @WWE women’s wrestling. #FightingWithMyFamily”

Paige also took to Twitter to talk about the trailer, stating “Omg I’m definitely crying my eyes out through LAX right now. YOU GUYS LOOK AT THIS TRAILER!! My heart! Thank you for believing in mine and my family’s story The Rock.”

“The @FightingWMyFam trailer is out NOW! So surreal to have a movie based on my life story. I can’t wait for you all to see it in theaters this February!”

Fighting With My Family hits theaters in Feb. 2019, and you can check out the trailer below.

Having a movie based on your life isn’t the only thing Paige has in the works. Back in September, she revealed she’s branching out into the makeup industry, and we are so here for it.

She launched a clothing company titled Saraya online in December 2017. A few months later, Bevis opened a brick and mortar store in Anaheim, California.

The online shop currently sells shirts, hats, hoodies and more, but Bevis took to social media to reveal her next venture: makeup.

Launching under the name Saraya Jade Cosmetics, Bevis has partnered with Beauty Society to produce vegan cosmetics.

She has since announced a variety of lipstick shades, which go on sale here Friday, Nov. 16.
