Xerxes, “A Toast” song premiere

Xerxes are teaming up with AP to bring you their new song, “A Toast.” The track is taken from the band’s upcoming sophomore LP, Collision Blonde, which will be released on October 21 via No Sleep Records. (Pre-orders are on sale now.) Stream the new song below, and let us know your thoughts.

“I had a short but intense romantic stint with a girl studying in Chicago at a university that will go unnamed during this past winter,” singer Calvin Philley says. “Polar vortex was in full swing but I still would spend my Friday night after work driving from Louisville to Chicago to spend weekends with her every now and then. It seemed like every time I would drive up there, nature would conspire to send me on the most dangerous goose chase for love, swerving through blizzards and ice after midnight in the heart of the Midwest. But when I'd arrive, we'd go to the liquor store next door to her apartment for champagne and orange juice and toast to ourselves. The girl loved mimosas. Suffice to say, things ended, not badly but nonetheless ended. After all was said and done, there was always this feeling of time and distance and nature conspiring against something good in both our lives. So this is my last toast to us, to an honest try, and the people we hate to leave behind.”
