You Me At Six’s Josh Franceschi shares an important message on mental health

Mental Health Awareness week runs May 8 through May 14 in the UK, and You Me At Six vocalist Josh Franceschi has shared an important message on Twitter in order to raise awareness for those struggling with mental health issues.

“Most important thing you can do is talk about & address your demons. Let's kill the stigma,” he wrote on Twitter. Check out his statement in full below.

The event is coordinated by the Mental Health Foundation in the UK, and this year’s theme is “Surviving or Thriving,” in which the foundation reports that only a small minority of people (13%) report living with high levels of good mental health.

Franceschi’s post emphasizes that struggling with mental health should not be seen as weakness, and that it’s always a good time to look for support—and continue to support each other:

“The word 'mental' in 'mental health' should not make people see that as weakness or look for the nearest straight jacket. Taking the time to listen & potentially understand is all that anyone really wants as a starting point. So if you feel a way about it, or know someone who you think could do with some support, look out for them and show them some love. X”

If you are or a friend is struggling with metal health, you are not alone. See Hope For A Day's long list of those who will listen here.
