Lots of people are currently using the site as a type of music listening service, letting videos play on loop and listening to the tunes. However, Bloomberg reports that the longer you listen, the more ads you will soon be encountering.

And, let’s be real: No one likes ads.

“You’re not going to be happy after you are jamming ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and you get an ad right after that,” Cohen said, Bloomberg shares.

It’s an attempt for the streaming service to try to prove it’s looking out for the artist. YouTube has received much criticism, both for hosting videos that violate copyright—and not paying artists and record companies enough in the first place.

Cohen said that they hope these changes will help them “be good partners” to the music industry.

“There’s a lot more people in our funnel that we can frustrate and seduce to become subscribers,” Cohen said. “Once we do that, trust me, all that noise will be gone and articles people write about that noise will be gone.”

So, we have to ask: Do you think having more ads will frustrate people into using a subscription service? Sound off in the comments below.
