Last week, we found out that YouTube was putting out its new music streaming platform, YouTube Music. The service is expected to be an extension of YouTube's other streaming service, YouTube Red. Users will have the ability to choose between a regular YouTube Music membership, available either for free (with ads) or for $9.99 per month.

For those who want a combination YouTube Red and Music, the company unveiled that YouTube Premium for $11.99 will have ad-free, YouTube original content. YouTube Music is reportedly going to have a “reimagined mobile app” and a new desktop player, with both being designed to make it easier for users to listen to music.

In addition to making the service more user-friendly, the app will house thousands of tracks, thousands of playlists that allows users to discover new music based on preferences, smart searches to help users better find a song and, of course, music videos.

In a statement from Max Lousada, CEO, Recorded Music, Warner Music Group and Chairman & CEO, Warner Music UK, shared of the new streaming platform:

“Music has helped attract a global audience of almost two billion to YouTube, so the potential prize here is huge. The original way the service brings together music and video, as well as its big launch campaign, shows YouTube is making a commitment to subscription. It’s an important step in recognizing the power of artists, their music, and the value they create.”

YouTube has begun to roll out early access to YouTube Music in the U.S., Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, starting today.
