See boygenius: the film, directed by Kristen Stewart
It’s a big day for boygenius fans. Not only is the indie supergroup featuring Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker’s debut album the record out imminently, they’ve dropped boygenius: the film, directed by Kristen Stewart.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Kristen Stewart was collaborating with boygenius on a series of three music videos. Tonight they dropped as boygenius: the film, a 14-minute set of connected visuals for “$20,” “Emily I‘m Sorry,” and “True Blue.” The first part of the film features Baker working on an old car at a country home. When “Emily I’m Sorry” plays, it focuses on Bridgers surrounded by monster trucks. The final segment of the film features Dacus painting her home blue with her bandmates pitching in.

It’s not the first time Stewart’s been in the director’s chair: She previously directed music videos for Sage + the Saints and Chvrches, and is set to make her feature directorial debut soon. But given boygenius’ noted fandom for Stewart, it’s exciting to see their collaboration.
