You can have the ’90s sleepover of your dreams in the last Blockbuster
Yes, dreams really do come true. For those that reminisce about the Friday nights spent aimlessly browsing the aisles of Blockbuster, you can relive these memories once again.
The last Blockbuster store is now available to rent out on Airbnb.
In 2018, the last two remaining Blockbusters closed in Alaska, leaving the Oregon store in the city of Bend the last one standing. So for those located on the west coast or those willing to travel, you can now rent out the store to binge-watch movies with your friends.
The store's manager, Sandi Harding, is offering three one-night reservations in September. This latest plan is a way to give thanks to the local community that has supported the store over the years.
"In appreciation for all that the local community has recently done to support the last-of-its-kind during these uncertain times, this end of summer sleepover will offer movie lovers in Deschutes County the chance for a 90s-themed stay to relive the bygone Friday night tradition just as we remember it," the press release says.
Harding revealed on Facebook last week that the store has been overwhelmed by the amount of support.
Starting Aug. 17 at 1 P.M. PST, the Blockbuster store is available to rent for just $4 on Sept. 18, 19 and 20. Guests will have the entire store to themselves and it will be cleaned according to COVID-19 guidelines. There will also be candy, drinks and other snacks available.
The Airbnb listing gives a description of what guests can expect during their Blockbuster stay.
"Whether you want to stay up until sunrise or pass out on the couch, we’ve created the perfect space complete with a pull-out couch, bean bags and pillows for you to cozy up with 'new releases' from the ‘90s," the listing says. "Crack open a two-liter of Pepsi before locking into a video game, charting your future in a game of MASH, or watching movie after movie. But be wary of reciting 'Bloody Mary' in the staff bathroom off of the break room, as you just may summon the ghost rumored to haunt the store."

The Oregon Blockbuster is still open for movie rentals. Due to the pandemic, the store is disinfecting regularly and offers curbside pick-up for customers.
