‘Captain Marvel’ teaser accidentally includes phone sex hotline

We’re months away from Captain Marvel hitting theaters, and the excitement continues to build. The first trailer was released just last month, showing Brie Larson as the titular character in the epic new suit.

Larson has been teasing images over the past few months from EW’s premiere of the suit to the first poster, in turn proving she’s just as stoked as us. However, yesterday her seemingly innocent share of an image from the set had one minor surprising detail.

While Larson used the opportunity to both promote her upcoming film and encourage fans to vote, it appears the payphone in which she’s standing near has a hotline emblazoned on it.

While many movies throw in fake numbers usually beginning with “555,” this one is an actual functioning 1-800 number.

Reddit user anilsoi11 zoomed in on the payphone in turn revealing the number. They also pointed out that the same number was used in the Suite Life Of Zack And Cody on an ad for The Tipton hotel. Both Marvel and the show are owned by Disney, so it makes sense.

What doesn’t make sense, however, is that the line now belongs to a phone sex hotline. Commenters at that reddit thread and a different message board dating back to 2014, both state the number used to have another recording that says “Thank you for calling ABC. The number you have reached is a fictional, non-working number used for motion picture and television productions.”

Now when dialed, the number states “Welcome to America’s hottest talk line. Guys, hot ladies are waiting to talk to you, press one now. Ladies, to talk to interesting and exciting guys free, press two to connect free now.”

Who knows how or when the number changed, but you can check out Larson’s original photo below. Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8, 2019.
