Dave Grohl goes demonic in Foo Fighters movie ‘Studio 666’ trailer
Grohl gets possessed by a demon as Foo Fighters work on their next album in the upcoming film.January 12, 2022
The bandmates (Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee) want to “break the mold” while creating their tenth studio album. Thus, they decide to move into a very obviously haunted house to record the project.
Eventually, Grohl becomes possessed by a demon. On one hand, it’s actually helpful. Grohl discovers a new musical note, giddily saying, “It’s an L!” On the other hand, he does seem to become substantially more murderous.
Apparently, there’s some truth behind the story. Writers Grohl, Jeff Buhler and Rebecca Hughes reportedly drew on real-life experiences the band had while recording Medicine at Midnight in Encino, California.
“We would come back to the studio the next day and all of the guitars would be detuned,” Grohl told NME back in 2020. “Or the setting we’d put on the [mixing] board, all of them had gone back to zero. We would open up a Pro Tools session and tracks would be missing. There were some tracks that were put on there that we didn’t put on there. But just like weird open mic noises. Nobody playing an instrument or anything like that, just an open mic recording a room.”
