Drenge go “Running Wild” on the farm in new video (exclusive)

Drenge, one of our 100 bands you need to know, are teaming up with AP to bring you their new music video for “Running Wild.” The video is directed by Ed Lovelace and inspired by the rural way of life depicted in Gideon Koppel’s Sleep Furiously, Michelangelo Frammartino’s Le Quattro Volte and Ermanno Olmi’s The Tree of Wooden Clogs.

In her March profile of the band, AP’s Cassie Whitt wrote, “There’s a palpable sense of drudgery and defiance oozing through Dregne’s neo-garage/grunge rock, which may reflect the rural upbringing of the band’s members.”

They wanted to document modern farming life in the video; the weather beaten faces, 20 hour working days, a close relationship with animals and the land: a way of life that was really normal to Drenge when they were growing up in Derbyshire and which now seems distant and alien as they travel from city to city, airport to airport.

The band comment, “It was an honor to work with Ed Lovelace again on this film, and we’re very grateful to the Richardson family for letting us film in the craggy limestone fells of Throwley Farm on the Derbyshire/Shropshire border.”
