Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz announces Artist Series StingRay Bass

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz has been busy this year. On top of writing his debut graphic novel, Dying Inside, and playing dozens of shows on So Much For (Tour) Dust, he’s now teamed with Sterling by Music Man for an Artist Series StingRay Bass.

If you’ve been to any of the band’s recent gigs, you’ve definitely seen it. The bass shoots flames during their performances, making the run even more epic. Wentz also calls it the “best tone” that he’s ever had from a live show. “For me, a bass has to stand up and be able to play a lot of different songs,” he says. “On this tour, we’re doing more than 20 songs. These basses come backstage, they go out — I play at front of house or I go out and play near the lawn, and they’ve held up for all that. I treat them well, but I also am who I am onstage, and they’ve held up under those circumstances.”

The StingRay features an Alnico V humbucker, dual controls, and includes black hardware, an anodized gold pickguard, and a custom Loon inlay on the 12th fret, which Wentz says is “beautiful but really spooky.” He also referenced watches and skateboards in the design, preferring simplicity.

The signature bass is available in Black or Fiesta Red finishes and retails at $649.99. You can get early access to the Fiesta Red variant by heading to the AP Shop.
