Japanese Breakfast cover Bon Iver's “Skinny Love” for Spotify singles series
Japanese Breakfast have shared a cover of Bon Iver‘s “Skinny Love.” They also released a re-recording of “Be Sweet.”
The tracks dropped as Spotify Singles ahead of the 2022 Grammy Awards.

The Spotify series features each Best New Artist nominee reimaging one of their own songs. They also record a cover in tribute to a past Best New Artist nominee.
“We decided to record Bon Iver’s ‘Skinny Love’ because it felt like a very surprising cover for Japanese Breakfast,” Michelle Zauner says in a press release. “It’s so moving and sparse. We felt we could add some interesting instrumentation to the track and celebrate our fellow label mate, Bon Iver.”
In addition, FINNEAS recently covered Bon Iver’s “Flume” for the Spotify series.
Japanese Breakfast‘s album Jubilee was also nominated for Best Alternative Music Album. The 64th Grammy Awards will take place Sunday, April 3, at 8 p.m. EST.
