Last month, Machine Gun Kelly confirmed that a movie based on his No.1 album Tickets To My Downfall is in the works. The upcoming project, which was co-directed by MOD SUN and MGK, is apparently going to be a lot like the classic musical Grease.

Then, at the end of October, Machine Gun Kelly confirmed that filming for the project has wrapped and that it is now a Tickets To My Downfall musical. At the time, not much information had been shared. However, a short Instagram video revealed that TikTok star Chase Hudson is involved in the project.

“Early December, I think first week of December,” MGK said.

So, it looks like we won’t be waiting too much longer to finally see the highly-anticipated movie from MGK and MOD SUN. Machine Gun Kelly previously told NME that the project is basically a “pop-punk Grease” and that it was all filmed in four days.

The musical, which marks the directorial debut for MGK, was inspired by a running joke between him and MOD SUN. They frequently use the excuse of needing to watch Grease 2 as a reason to leave certain situations.

“Maybe that joke sparked the whole idea, because now we’re making a new pop-punk Grease,” he said. “It was almost like shooting 14 music videos back-to-back, but with a narrative that’s outside of my personal life stories.”

Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker are narrating the musical which focuses on various characters.

“It focuses on other characters,” he said. “And then me and [Barker] are just the narrators. It’s an interesting concept because it hasn’t been done for an album ever, maybe outside of like Pink Floyd’s The Wall.”

During the AskAnythingChat interview, Machine Gun Kelly also revealed that he plans to release a follow-up to Tickets To My Downfall in 2021.

“There isn’t enough time for me to go through my goals list [for 2021], but definitely directing a movie, releasing another album, performing Tickets To My Downfall live, that’s necessary,” MGK said. “And being a good human, those are all my 2021 top of the list.”
