Fans could still see My Chemical Romance perform in the UK this summer
While My Chemical Romance have already postponed their appearances in Japan, Australia and New Zealand, the remainder of their shows in Europe and North America still haven't seen any changes and it looks like the UK shows in Milton Keynes are still going ahead.
According to MK Citizen, the trio of stadium shows are still going ahead as planned from June 18 to 20 unless the government enforces further restrictions.
MK Dons' Executive Director Andrew Cullen says the shows are still going ahead. This is highly dependent on whether the UK government decides to extend their event bans though.
In the UK, event bans were put in place a little while after the rest of the world went ahead with the decision. The timeline of when event bans will be lifted is still up in the air which is why these shows are still scheduled to happen.
The UK held off longer than many European countries on placing a ban on events. While countries like France, Italy or Switzerland were doing so at the beginning of March. By the middle of last month, the UK finally followed suit.
Now, Cullen is giving MCR fans a bit of hope that the shows will still be happening. Other countries are currently banning events leading well into the summer but the UK is still staying hopeful to not cancel or postpone early summer events.
"As things stand, those concerts are still taking place in June," says Cullen. "We're waiting, as are the concert promoters, about mass gatherings from the government as to whether those concerts can take place.
"We're in regular contact with the promoters, and we are looking at contingencies if they cannot go ahead because of government guidance. At the moment, they are still taking place."
As of now, no further My Chemical Romance shows are being postponed but all of that could change depending on how countries decide physical distancing measures need to be implemented as the coronavirus continues to be dealt with.
