Netflix film ‘Metal Lords’ recruits Tom Morello as executive music producer
The upcoming coming-of-age comedy will make its global debut on Netflix later this year.
Tom Morello has stayed pretty busy over the past few months. Back in January, he teamed up with System Of A Down's Serj Tankian for a cover of a Gang Of Four classic. As well, the Pretty Reckless finally unveiled their highly-anticipated collab with Morello which appears on their new album Death By Rock And Roll. More recently, Morello and his Rage Against The Machine bandmates debuted a new documentary that was inspired by one of their most iconic songs.
Now, Tom Morello has another new project in the works. This week, it was announced that Morello is overseeing all of the music for the upcoming coming-of-age comedy Metal Lords.
The film follows two kids who aspire to start a heavy metal band while in high school. As it turns out, none of their classmates are as passionate about heavy metal as they are. In fact, they don't really care about the genre at all.
As an executive music producer, Morello will be working alongside a talented group of individuals for the new Netflix film. Peter Sollett (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) is officially directing the project. Meanwhile, D.B. Weiss (Game Of Thrones), who wrote the movie, is producing alongside Greg Shapiro. David Benioff, Bernie Caulfield and Robin Fisichella are the official executive producers for Metal Lords.
As well, a few familiar faces are set to star in the Netflix project. Jaeden Martell (Knives Out, It) and Isis Hainsworth (Misbehaviour, Emma.) both have lead roles in the film. Adrian Greensmith, who is making his feature film debut with Metal Lords, helps round out the lead cast.
Metal Lords is the first film to come out of Netflix's new partnership with Benioff and Weiss who have made Netflix their creative home to write, produce and direct new shows and films.
Metal Lords is slated to premiere worldwide on Netflix later this year.
