Corey Taylor continues teasing new Slipknot mask

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has once again taken to his social media to tease fans regarding the next Slipknot chapter. Taylor shared a photo to Instagram that appears to take the shape of his new mask.

The photo depicts a very bright, distorted image. While the post itself is hard to make out, commenters believe the image is of Taylor’s eye. Additionally, the caption reads, “Soon.”

According to Blabbermouth, Taylor has been working with special effects artist Tom Savini. Savini has worked on many classic horror films such as Friday The 13th and Dawn Of The Dead.

While the most recent teaser has fans all riled up, Taylor began teasing the new era a few months ago.

Not long after that, Taylor revealed a photo of himself and his mask team behind-the-scenes. In the photo, Taylor’s mask appears to being cut and fitted.

“Since I can’t show you the mask yet, here’s what we go through to have them made,” the musician says in the Instagram post.

While we won’t know what the masks look like until Slipknot decide that they are fully ready for the world to see, Taylor recently explained that his masks are a part of his own personal growth.

“Like, a lot of the guys in the band are happy with theirs (masks), and they keep theirs. Maybe they’ll change them subtly, depending on who’s making the new ones for us. But for me, I like exploring who I am now. Nothing against the guys in the band, but for me — Especially with the lyrics. I’m not the same guy I was four years ago when we did .5, and before that when I did All Hope Is Gone. That guy is constantly changing, so who is that guy in this moment?”

In other news, Slipknot dropped a teaser about their upcoming album with a heavily distorted vocal clip that fans think contain lyrics from the album. You can hear that for yourself below.

Taylor has previously said the new album contains the band’s heaviest song yet.He also added that the band’s at their “most ambitious, our most experimental” on the forthcoming album.

The album still doesn’t have a name, but we do know it’s set to drop Aug. 9, and if the band continue teasers like this, we’ll be watching closely.
